India U19 vs Bangladesh U19 – U19 Asia Cup 2024 Final Highlights

Bangladesh was keen to repeat last year’s performance and win the title again after defeating India in the 2023 semifinal. Iqbal Hossain Emon led the pack and won Player of the Final and Player of the Tournament, demonstrating Bangladesh’s deadly bowling throughout the competition. He took the first wicket of Ayush Mharte with a brilliant 7-1-24-3 spell. Additionally, he had a season-ending total of 13 wickets in five games. Throughout the tournament, he was the captain of Bangladesh’s bowling lineup and was crucial in getting the team over the finish line.

With 175 and 167 runs, respectively, from their four games, opening duo Ayush Mhatre and 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi have carried out the majority of India’s scoring. However, Bangladesh’s bowling lineup showed itself to be a formidable opponent, taking out the openers who left cheaply. Bangladesh won the title after choking the Indian hitters and getting them all out for 139.

U19 Asia Cup 2024 final award ceremony

Azizul Hakim Tamim, the captain of Bangladesh, proudly raises the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup trophy and celebrates the moment with his teammates and his country, which has recently seen some upheaval. The young Tigers made history by winning the coveted title and the USD 150,000 prize money check with an incredible display of skill, perseverance, and teamwork.

This triumph demonstrates Bangladesh cricket’s growing talent and encourages the next generation to aim high and succeed internationally.

How did both teams reach the final?

However, Bangladesh advanced to the final by defeating Pakistan by seven wickets, which was made possible by a spectacular knock from Md. Azizul Hakim Tamim.

India U19 would have liked to claim the bragging rights at the continental level, even though they lost the World Champions title to Australia in February of this year.

How did Bangladesh U19 win the final?

After winning the toss, they requested that India bat and came out strongly in the opening over. Saxena threw it away, forcing India’s top batter, Jaiswal, to play the anchor. The pacers from Bangladesh maintained pressure on bowling tight lines. India was also troubled by Rakibul’s spin.

Sakib returned to break the 94-run second wicket stand just as the blue-clad boys were trying to up the ante with an off-colour Shamim. After Shoriful came back to remove Jaiswal, the floodgates were opened. India was bowled out for just 177 after losing their final 7 wickets for 21 runs.

Kartik Tyagi had the responsibility of getting India off to a strong start, but he was inconsistent in his pursuit of wickets due to the pressure of defending a low total. Sushant Mishra received a warning and had a terrible experience with the new ball bowling beamers.

The first team got off to a fast start, followed by a resolute Bishnoi. Emon had to leave with a strained left hamstring after he took two quick wickets. They went from 50/0 to 65/4 under Bishnoi. The cool Akbar Ali entered. At that point, the Indians had their tails up, but he took the singles stealthily and blocked them. India did increase the ante, but Emon’s return to the crease relieved some of the pressure by hitting the boundaries and establishing a partnership.
